Live As Foreigners 8.14.17

“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.  As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”  Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.” 1 Peter 1:13-17

Yesterday, our Pastor, Craig Groeschel focused his message on this verse.  Peter is writing to Christians that are being persecuted by the Roman empire. Peter is actually martyred during this period of persecution.

Even during the terrifying time, he is encouraging Christians to set their minds on their true home – Heaven. These people probably had a lot of temptation to deny the Lord or to retaliate for the brutal persecution they were under. However, just as we are today, they were still called to holiness.

I really encourage you to watch this message on being different than this world.
