Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
The Heavenly Vision by Isabella Lilias Trotter
This old hymn reminds me of the days spent at Mimi and Papaw’s church, singing old hymns as my Mimi led the church in song. Little did I know that these old hymns would be a part of my foundation that led me to accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 6 years old.
Do you remember what your faith looked like when you said “yes” to Jesus? Sometimes we need to go back to ground level. Forget all the adulting for about 20-30 minutes and retreat back to being a child again. The child who looked to the heavenly Father with so much confidence, never doubting His Word or promises. As years go by, the trust fades and the “what if’s” start flooding our minds. That’s not how we are called to live, no matter how old we get.
Just like you did years ago, turn your eyes back to Jesus. The peace and comfort you long for is where He is. Jesus said:
“… I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
I pray that today is the day you turn to your Father and lean into Him. He loves you, protects you and will never leave you. You are His precious child, never forget that.
