Recipe For Joy 1.24.17
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)
Is it possible to be joyful when it seems like nothing can go right? After doing a little bit of studying up on this passage, I’ve concluded that “joyful” isn’t an emotion — it’s an attitude. It’s mentally choosing to seek God daily through prayer and train the mind to be thankful. Enough with the negative, self-pity thoughts.
The recipe for living a life of joy is written out pretty clearly for us. We are to “never stop praying” and be thankful no matter what. Paul freely wrote out this command because this is how he lived his life. He truly believed that God was working everything out for him and because of that, he could be thankful in all circumstances.
I want a joyful life, don’t you? Today I pray you intentionally set your mind on the blessings God has given you and thank Him. I have no doubt, your day will be brighter and your load will be lighter.
