“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:3-4
Wow, this verse can make even the most humble people think again about their intentions. We live in a society powered by “like” and “share” that can easily blur the lines surrounding humility and pride. God instructs us to care for “the least of these”, give to those in need, and visit the orphans and widows. However, we are not to do any of it exalt ourselves but simply to show the love of the Father. James teaches us to “not be polluted by the world” which really challenges me to reevaluate my foundation and to stay grounded in truth.
