Watch Out For This One 1.4.17
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5
The definition of greed is an “intense and selfish desire for something…” No one wants to admit they have greed in their heart. If we truly examine our wants and desires, most everyone struggles with some form of greed. A few months ago, my husband didn’t get the job that we really, really wanted. I was mad at God. How could He allow this? Haven’t we been through enough this year? I thought to myself, “If God really loved me, He wouldn’t have let this happen.” I desired my husband to have the job so badly that it caused me to question God. Hello greed.
Is there something in your life that you intensely desire? It might even be taking the place in your heart where God should be. Just like in Psalms 26:2, ask the Lord to examine your heart and mind. Allow Him to reveal to you anything that is coming between you and Him.
Thankfully our Father is forgiving and full of grace. He lovingly revealed this sin to me and reminded me that He loves me always, regardless of my faults.
Not only does God love you, He will never ever leave you. He is working everything out for your good (Romans 8:28). Continue to give Him your desires, He will take them and create something beautiful. All we have to do is trust Him.
