Unique Gifts 2.2.17
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Have you been enjoying our guest contributions on LOVE so far?Yesterday, Blakely introduced the series with the all-encompassing verse on love found in 1 Corinthians 13. Although I always gain something from this scripture alone, I recently decided to explore within the text and began reading all through the preceding and following chapters. That’s when I came across these words from Paul that I found so impactful:
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.”
Maybe you’ve heard the analogy that every single snowflake is unique in its design and structure. In the same way, each of us is made of a unique combination of characteristics and gifts that set us apart. Yet, we are designed by the same Creator. In God’s image, we are individually crafted and given truly invaluable spiritual gifts molded by motivations, dreams, circumstances, and core values. How amazing it is that the same God who gave the apostle Paul the gift of communication, and figures like Mother Theresa the gift of compassion, took the time to develop a special set of gifts for each of us. Then, as a body, we are able to come together and meet a variety of needs based on those spirited-based strengths. It is a beautiful picture of unity.
The same is true in the context of love. Some of us were made to pour love on our friends and those close to us. Some were called to be the pillar of love in a marriage. While others still, such as our upcoming guest writer Mady, were created to show nurturing love as a mother.
How are you contributing your spiritual gifts to help and serve others? Remember today that the same God who moves mountains can use our seemingly small capabilities to do powerful things for His glory.
