Love Is The Antidote 7.25.17

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8

I have experienced first hand that love can overcome anything. Not the “love” the world gives, but pure, heavenly, God-enriched love. My first response is — how are we supposed to love someone who doesn’t deserve our love? Well, Jesus touched on that in John 13:34:

“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

We all know, we don’t deserve the unconditional, never ending love Jesus shows us daily. But yet, He gives it to us freely. According to the man himself, we are called to love like Him.

Let’s be honest, there’s no way we can do this on our own. Are we really supposed to love someone who’s abusive, manipulative or just straight up mean? Yes. It sounds crazy but it is our calling as followers of Christ. Jesus was “a friend to sinners” and we are to live like Him. The only way to live out a life of love is tapping into God’s love. When we daily spend time with our Father, He fills us with the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). And the first one that is listed is good ol’ love. To bear the fruit of love, we have to stay connected to the vine. Jesus is the vine. (John 15)

Love is the antidote to the hate, violence and sickness we see in the world. It has the power to turn around the ugliest situation. I pray you tap into God’s love today, He will use you in a powerful way.
