Does anyone else feel like this Fall is completely flying by? Halloween has been officially over for a couple weeks and Thanksgiving will be here before we can even say “cranberry sauce.” And although there is a lot of crossover in terms of Fall decor between these two holidays, Turkey Day tends to have a bit more class and a few less fake cobwebs. An easy way to transition some of your Halloween style is to create pumpkin arrangements. This idea can work great with your leftover Jack-O-Lanterns that have already been gutted. Just simply turn the carved face inward towards a wall, place a small jar of water inside, and add your favorite fall flowers. Voila! A fresh new decoration for November. Of course, if you are looking for a more permanent piece or an arrangement you can utilize inside, I have just the project for you. You certainly don’t need to be an expert florist for this one.

The items you’ll need are simple:

• 1 Fun-kin or other carvable foam pumpkin
• Carving knife
• 6 to 10 artificial floral stems

These can all be found at your local craft store, but you’ll have to run fast to grab up those foam pumpkins on sale before they run out. I like to use the Fun-kins in white or black for a unique, sophisticated look, but the standard orange come in several different shapes and styles. I also found some gold painted “greenery” among the Christmas florals at Hobby Lobby that really take this arrangement up a notch. In terms of choosing stems I tried to stay with an updated Fall color palette, using whites, oranges, and dark pinks or reds. Feel free to throw in some green to the mix as well. While sticking to my palette, I just selected the florals I liked most which turned out to be an assortment of roses, ranunculuses, and peonies. About 3-5 different types and 6-10 stems should work great. Then arrange them in such a way that scatters the color throughout and weighs the greenery to the bottom.

Finally, set your arrangement somewhere everyone can admire, such as the dining room or entryway table, and enjoy for years to come.
