It’s no secret that Valentine’s Day can be a harsh reminder for the ladies who are still looking for love. Chocolates, flowers, and giant stuffed animals are everywhere to be found… but none for Gretchen Weiners. (Gretchen is all of us in our singledom). I can clearly recall those days. Each year I would be hopeful that maybe, just maybe, there was a secret admirer out there that would go to crazy lengths on some romantic gesture just for me. And then Valentine’s Day would pass… and I would find myself at Walgreens buying all the candy for 70% off in self pity.

Looking back now, I can talk about those years and laugh. However, for many women, I know that Valentine’s Day is presently a very lonely and hollow holiday. Although they may be beautiful, intelligent, and fiercely independent, society still convinces them that they are lacking. We must not believe that lie! Proverbs 31:25 tells us, “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.” Those are the very attributes the enemy wants to steal from single women.

We have the promise of an everlasting love from God throughout His Word. These love letters from our Sacred Admirer show us that we don’t have to live in fear or hopelessness. And if we have faith that His will is being revealed in our lives, including marriage, we will find peace in His perfect timing.
