Psalm 34:12-14 (NLT)

I don’t know about you but this scripture hit my heart (and zipped my lips!) in a very humbling way. The tongue is the strongest muscle in our bodies. It has the strength to build a friend up, share the gospel with the lost and express how much we love someone. The tongue also has the ability to ruin a friendship, belittle a spouse and manipulate any situation.

Our tongues are the steering wheel towards a life of joy and happiness or a life of bitterness and resentment. Which way are you headed? If you aren’t sure, listen to your words today. What do you talk about? How do you speak to others?

In everything we do, we have to be intentional with our words and always fight for peace. We are called to speak life and love to everyone we come into contact with. Not only will we bless the people around us, we will bless ourselves.
