Search Me, Father 12.02.16
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)
Have you ever asked God to show you the things that aren’t pleasing to Him? It sounds easy until He tells you to give up something you love — like chocolate! Ha! In all seriousness, sometimes the things that aren’t pleasing to Him are the hardest to give up.
If you want to be the best version of you, you have to give up the things that aren’t of Him. If you have time, you should read the whole Psalm 139 chapter. David talks about how God knows how you were made and why you were made. God knows your thoughts before you think them and your actions before you do them. He knows your purpose here on Earth. If He knows all these things, why wouldn’t you daily align yourself in His word? Well, because you are human, and it’s not that easy. But don’t be so hard on yourself. Your Father has so much grace for you and lovingly provides all the strength you need. You just have to ask.
Everyday, make an intentional decision to ask God to show you how to live. Just like David, ask God to search you over and reveal to you what is of Him and what is not. If living for Christ were easy, you wouldn’t have to depend on Him.
Communicate with your Father. He knows your full potential and is always working on you. The refining process can hurt, but it’s always worth it.
