Physical Thanks 11.22.16
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17
Our pastor, Craig Groeschel, presented some wise words in a sermon not long ago with this saying: What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for today? It really resonated with me, as I often ASK for so much and then neglect to give praise and THANKS when those petitions are granted. So if you’re like me, I’d say we would be waking up with very little indeed.
Colossians 3:17 suggests that we take this notion one step further. In addition to giving thanks with our words, we should be displaying thankfulness through our actions. You’ll likely find that the two go hand in hand. For a heart overflowing with gratitude tends to influence our duties and the ways we conduct ourselves on a daily basis. Remember the sacrifice that Christ became for you and me. Let it guide all you do and say.
With Thanksgiving coming this week, I challenge you to give thanks through Him in word AND deed. Prepare your heart for ways to show your appreciation to your loved ones. After all, you never know what tomorrow brings.
