Get Rid of All Filth 10.30.17
“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.” James 1:21
I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to work. My mind is usually racing in the morning going through my to-do list and trying to plan out how to get it all done. But this morning was a little different. It was still dark outside since our days are getting shorter with winter approaching so it seemed more peaceful than the usual hectic rush our. For the first time in quite awhile, I really listened to the words of the songs being played. Every song was inevitably about hurting and the brokenness of the world was more than apparent.
I’m not trying to go the route of “don’t listen to popular radio because of its immorality”. Specifics like that are between you and God. However, I am encouraged by this verse to really examine my thoughts. Are they immoral and evil? Am I jealous or coveting what I don’t have? Our thoughts are no doubt impacted by what we consume. I want to consume more Jesus and less of this world.
