Turning 30 & Why I’m Okay With It
This morning my little brother started giving me a hard time for turning the big 3-0 next week. After 25 years, he still looks for ways to get under my skin! It hit me, I’m not only okay with turning 30, I’m ready for it! A friend’s dad recently told her,
“Every stage of life gets even better.”
Why do we dread getting older? I honestly don’t want to stay 29 – bring on 30! Here are some reasons I look forward to the next year and season in life!
- 30s is a big decade.
Think about it — while 30, I’ll have all my kids (hopefully! ha!), establish our new business, maybe venture into another business or two, create new goals, desires and dreams all in this new decade! Your 30s create who you are and what you do in your 40s and 50s. This decade is a big deal! - The future is bright.
God has set it up where every season in life has prepared us for an even better season. In 2014 we were jobless, about to be married and anxious about the future. Now looking back, it was setting us up for 2015 — the best year of our lives. I know this coming decade is going to be full of many amazing, rewarding times. - One more day closer.
If I’m going to be completely honest, every day that passes by I remind myself I’m one more day closer to seeing my mom again. I’m not going to allow myself to get down or bitter because she isn’t here for my 30s. I know she sees, she’s closer than I think and I will see her soon. It might sound sad or a little depressing. I promise, it’s not — praise Jesus for the joy He gives us through every season! When I focus on the eternal promises God gives us, the present problems seem so small.
I hope this little list sparks excitement within you to embrace your upcoming year. God has a plan to over-exceed your expectations! He is going to do it in my life and I have no doubt He will do something big in yours. Just sit back and watch.
