Favorite Post Workout Snacks
Let’s be honest, one of the main reasons I work out is so I can eat more. I just love food, who doesn’t? Usually, after a workout I am super hungry and ready to scarf down anything I can get my hands on. Which can be really dangerous!
It is so important to grab a snack after your workout to help rebuild your body’s glycogen stores and repair the muscle you just broke down. If possible, mix a protein and a carb. Below, I’ve listed my favorite post workout snacks – that just so happen to be super tasty!
- Peanut Butter Toast
Throw two tablespoons of natural peanut butter and half a banana on a piece of whole wheat toast (Ezekiel 4:9 is my favorite). - Energy Bars*
These are my sweetie’s favorite snack — which is nice because they are super easy to make! - Bowl of Cereal
Sometimes you just need a bowl of cereal to get you through the day. Most of the time, I’ll scramble two eggs and add in half a banana. - Avocado Toast*
Avocado on anything is delicious. Am I right? - Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Protein Shake
This is my favorite protein. It’s gluten free, no preservatives or GMOs. Mix up half a banana, 1 tbsp of peanut butter, greek yogurt, protein powder, water and ice. That’s all it takes. - Protein Pancakes
These are super duper easy to make. Add almond butter on top, of course.
What’s your favorite snack to refuel with? Please share! We love hearing from you.
*Thank you to my best gal pal and personal dietician, Angie Asche, for two of the delicious recipes. Whenever I’m searching for a delicious healthy recipe, Eleat Nutrition is my go-to.
