Thankfulness Is Intentional 4.21.17
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6
Do you ever feel like your prayer requests out number your praise reports? Sometimes I find myself sending requests up to the Lord throughout the day but when it comes to listing all the things I am thankful for — that just doesn’t come natural. We have to find a balance.
Thankfulness is an intentional decision. Our Father loves when we bring Him our requests and daily seek his guidance, forgiveness and provision in our lives! We just have to remember that thanksgiving is what brings us peace. Our praises are just as important as our requests. Taking a step back and looking at everything God has done for us, our perspective changes.
Our sinful flesh isn’t quick to be thankful. When we stay in the Word, align ourselves in Christ and daily walk with Him — the spirit will frequently remind us of the things in our lives that we can praise the Lord for. Even if it’s the roses that just bloomed in your front yard.
Thankfulness brings us peace and peace is what guards our hearts (v7). I pray you are extra thankful today — you will experience the supernatural peace the Lord offers His children.
