God is in Control 11.09.16
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” Romans 13:1
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you may have heard that our country recently went through an election cycle and now has a new president elect — Donald Trump. In just the short time since the results announcement, I’ve witnessed a lot of frustration, confusion, and downright fear. Even some that saw their desired candidate come away victorious are carrying themselves with an air of uncertainty. And with this coming from only the small sampling of people I’ve directly seen reactions from, I can only imagine the widespread anxiety being felt across the country at this moment.
But guess what? God has always known what the outcome was going to be. He’s not surprised or anxious about what’s to come for America because He has been in control this entire time and continues to bring about His will. The presidency does indeed bestow power to a single person, but even the most powerful people on the planet are still dust on the scales compared to God. (Isaiah 40:15)
He is not only the true leader of the free world but the creator of it. Do you not believe that He has had His hand on every part of this nation’s affairs when He rules OVER every nation? (Psalm 46:10) Do not doubt God’s sovereignty for a single moment.
It will always be easier said than done, but we need to give our concerns to Him. By fretting over things we have no control over, we’re only placing additional stress in our lives that we do not need. Though this time may feel like the present doomsday, we must remember that it is only temporary. And He is more than capable of turning any situation into one that glorifies Him and is for the good of His people.
Pray that God would help you cast your cares, worries, and fears upon Him. And continually ask Him to give guidance and wisdom to all our elected officials.
