Patience 1.5.17
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
As we are starting out our New Year’s resolutions and combatting reasons to give up before the first week is out, patience becomes crucial. Our cultural habit tells us that we need immediate results. However, personal betterment and lasting results generally take time. Having the emotional endurance to make it through areas of resistance could be the key to reaching your goals this year.
The 92% of resolutions that fizzle before the year’s end are often out of a lack of patience. When we succumb to being impatient, it creates a negative chain reaction. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and ultimately, failure.
Fortunately, we can take a few steps to avoid this path. Give yourself some grace and be steadfast, even during slow progress. If you stumble, get back up and start over the next day without losing your resolve. Measure the steps you make so that you can celebrate developments. And be constant in prayer, asking God for the patience you need to keep going (Romans 12:12).
With Him on your side, you totally got this!
