Our God is a Consuming Fire 2.23.17
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29
Let’s think about something. Our God is the creator of the universe. The earth, sun, sky, and every other thing that exists was created by God. Additionally, out of the 7 billion people on earth, he intimately knows you and me down to our very last thought and desire. He also sent his only son to die for us – literally face and conquer death. That death included pain and suffering. Suffering that he endured for you and me.
I have caught myself coming to the Lord casually and not giving Him my full attention. We are to come to the throne in reverence and awe, not out of a formality, but with the emotion and attention that the great Creator requires. We may easily be starstruck by a celebrity yet treat God as an afterthought.
It is my goal and prayer today to approach Him remembering who He is – a Creator and King, the Alpha and Omega, and my Heavenly Father who knows me more intimately than I can fathom.
